More Bombardier Jet Train Video Added!

Sure we are still looking for where Bombardier's high speed Jet Train is today and when it will be reintroduced for use in North America. For now we can enjoy this footage, the second jet train video High Speed Rail Canada has loaded on the internet. It was taken when the Jet Train first appeared in 2001. New Niagara Falls International Railway Station

The City of Niagara Falls U.S.A received funding for a new railway station. Mayor Paul Dyster is calling the $16.5 million grant coming from Washington, DC the missing link to a $44-million project. Sadly the "International" theme to the railway station faces one significant problem; a Canadian government with no plans for passenger rail renewal in this country as outlined in our Part 3 of our series on highspeed rail in Canada.

New U.S. PIRG High Speed Rail Study Released

the U.S.Public Interest Research Group has released a high speed rail study titled," A Track Record of Success: High-Speed Rail Around the World and Its Promise for America ". As studies go its not that long at 53 pages. It outlines all the familiar benefits of high speed rail. Read it, pass it on to a friend, and then for fun send it to your Member of Parliament to educate them on the subject. If your MP bothers to read the study they will probably email you back and tell you high speed rail is too expensive. Remind your MP of the fact that I mentioned in my last blog that the provinces and federal government spent $20billion in one year alone (2008)on roads in Canada! Your MP might state the same old myth that its cheaper to just build roads. British High Speed Rail Channel Tunnel Rail Link Sold to Canadian Pension Funds

On August 3rd, 2010 High Speed Rail Canada reported that the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and Borealis Infrastructure – an arm of Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System were bidding to buy High Speed One , the British high speed rail line. The line links London to the Channel Tunnel. Yesterday,is was announced that these two pension plans were successful in purchasing High Speed Rail One for between $3-4 billion. Meanwhile back in Canada, the lack of any vision by the current federal Conservative government for renewing Canada's present embarrassing passenger rail situation leaves little hope for optimism.
