High Speed Rail Canada has posted on their website their yearly update on how Canada compares to the other G8 countries in relation to high speed passenger rail.

WireService.ca Press Release - Oct 18, 2012 - High Speed Rail Canada is a national non profit organization dedicated to educating Canadians on the benefits of modern passenger rail in Canada. They do it through their website, blog, youtube video channel, facebook site and public symposiums.

In 2010 High Speed Rail Canada released its first report comparing Canada to the rest of the G8 countries. It was the only country without high speed rail. The latest update finds Canada's passenger rail system VIA Rail in an even more precarious situation.

Paul Langan, Founder of High Speed Rail Canada states, " I thought it would be impossible for the Canadian passenger rail system to be even worse than our previous report but it is. Compared to the other G8 countries Canada's passenger rail system is an embarrassment. There is a lack of federal government financial support and vision for passenger rail. If this continues, our national passenger rail system may become extinct."CLICK HERE to read the report.
